Terms & Conditions
This page explains how we quote, build, deliver, and what you can expect when working with Seked Labs.
1. About us
1.1. Seked Labs Ltd (company number 16806329) (referred to in these terms and conditions as “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a company registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
1.2. We operate the website https://sekedlabs.co.uk and provide engineering consultancy, rapid prototyping, fabrication, instrumentation, and small-batch technical development services.
1.3. To contact us, email hello@sekedlabs.co.uk.
1.4. Visits to our workshop are by appointment only. We do not operate a public walk-in counter.
2. Quotes and pricing
2.1. Quotes are valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise.
2.2. Quotes are based on the drawings, CAD files, artwork, requirements, assumptions, and information you provide. If the specification changes, the quote may change.
2.3. We may provide estimates or budgetary guidance before issuing a formal quote. Estimates are not binding unless confirmed in writing as a quote.
2.4. VAT and any other taxes, if applicable, will be stated on the quote or invoice.
2.5. Work will only begin once the quote, scope, or written instruction has been accepted by you and any required payment has been received.
3. Scope of work
3.1. The agreed scope of work will be set out in the quote, proposal, email confirmation, or other written agreement between you and Seked Labs.
3.2. For consultancy, feasibility, prototype, or development work, outcomes may include concepts, recommendations, CAD models, reports, test results, prototype parts, demonstrators, or other agreed deliverables.
3.3. Prototype and feasibility work is experimental by nature. Unless agreed in writing, we do not guarantee that a prototype, concept, or feasibility study will result in a production-ready or commercially viable system.
3.4. If the agreed scope changes, we may need to revise the cost, lead time, or deliverables.
4. Lead times and delivery
4.1. Typical turnaround is 1 to 3 working days for suitable express fabrication jobs, and 3 to 7 working days for suitable standard fabrication jobs. Consultancy, prototype, instrumentation, and development work may require longer depending on scope.
4.2. We will confirm the expected lead time when we send your quote or proposal.
4.3. Lead time depends on material availability, workload, technical complexity, supplier delays, and the completeness of information provided. If anything is likely to slip, we will tell you as early as possible.
4.4. Collection is by arrangement in Sheffield, or we can ship to you. Shipping costs will be included on the quote if required.
5. Manufacturing changes and feasibility
5.1. We may suggest or make reasonable adjustments to the manufacturing process, such as toolpath, tolerance, layer height, cut strategy, material grade, fixture method, or assembly approach, if needed to produce the part safely, reliably, or at all.
5.2. If any change would materially affect cost, function, appearance, or lead time, we will tell you and seek approval before proceeding.
5.3. If a part, prototype, or requested process cannot be made as originally specified, we will tell you and either propose an alternative or decline the job.
6. Payment
6.1. For most work, we invoice after the quote is approved. We may ask for payment up front, staged payments, or a deposit for new customers, urgent work, custom materials, consultancy, prototype, or larger projects.
6.2. Payment terms will be stated on the invoice.
6.3. Parts, prototypes, reports, files, and other deliverables remain the property of Seked Labs until paid for in full, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
6.4. We may pause or withhold work, delivery, or release of deliverables if payment is overdue.
7. Risk, collection, and shipping
7.1. Risk in physical parts transfers to you once the parts are collected from us or delivered to the shipping address you gave us.
7.2. If you choose to collect, collection is by prior arrangement only.
7.3. If you do not collect finished parts within a reasonable time after we tell you they are ready, we may charge storage or dispose of the parts after giving you reasonable notice.
7.4. If a courier or postal service is used, delivery times are estimates and may be affected by factors outside our control.
8. Fit, function, and use
8.1. We produce parts and prototypes to the specification and information you provide, subject to any agreed changes or manufacturing constraints.
8.2. Unless agreed in writing, we do not certify parts, prototypes, electronics, software, or systems for safety-critical, load-bearing, medical, regulatory, or production use.
8.3. You are responsible for confirming final suitability before using any part, prototype, design, electronics assembly, software, or system in production, in a live environment, or with real users.
8.4. If you need specific tolerances, inspection, material certification, documentation, testing, or compliance requirements, you must tell us before we quote.
9. Returns and issues
9.1. If a part or deliverable arrives damaged, wrong, or clearly outside the agreed written specification, contact us within 5 working days and include photos or supporting evidence where relevant.
9.2. We will review the issue and may repair, replace, rework, or refund at our discretion.
9.3. Because our work is usually custom, made-to-order, or project-specific, we cannot accept returns or cancellations for “changed my mind” once production or project work has started.
10. Intellectual property and supplied designs
10.1. Your CAD files, drawings, artwork, electronics files, project information, and requirements remain your property unless agreed otherwise in writing.
10.2. By sending us files or project information, you confirm that you are allowed to use them and allowed to ask us to work from them.
10.3. Manufacturing parts or carrying out work to your specification does not make Seked Labs responsible for checking patent status, trademarks, licensing, export control, or any other third-party rights.
10.4. We treat customer designs and project details as confidential and do not share them without permission, unless required for project delivery, legal compliance, or protection of our legitimate interests.
10.5. If you need an NDA, tell us before sending sensitive data.
10.6. Unless agreed otherwise in writing, any general know-how, methods, templates, tools, code libraries, processes, or background intellectual property we bring to or develop during a project may continue to be used by Seked Labs, provided we do not disclose your confidential information.
11. Materials and safety
11.1. We can refuse work that we consider unsafe, illegal, unsuitable, misleading, or inappropriate for the material, process, equipment, or intended use.
11.2. We do not process PVC or other materials that release hazardous fumes on laser cutting or similar machines unless we have agreed a safe process in advance.
11.3. Electronics assembly and prototyping are provided for low-voltage and low-risk systems unless agreed otherwise in writing.
11.4. You must tell us about any material hazards, safety requirements, regulatory requirements, or unusual risks relating to the files, materials, parts, or intended use.
12. Liability
12.1. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.
12.2. Subject to clause 12.1, our total liability for any order or project is limited to the amount you paid, or agreed to pay, for that order or project.
12.3. Subject to clause 12.1, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost revenue, lost opportunity, downtime, loss of profit, loss of data, or project delay.
12.4. Unless agreed in writing, parts, prototypes, software, electronics, concepts, and demonstrators are provided for prototype, development, evaluation, or research use. You are responsible for confirming suitability before using them in production, in a live environment, or in a safety-critical system.
13. Events outside our control
13.1. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including supplier delays, courier delays, equipment breakdown, power or internet outages, illness, accidents, fire, flood, or other disruption.
13.2. If such an event affects a project, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practical and discuss revised timing or options.
14. Entire agreement
14.1. These Terms and Conditions, together with the written quote, proposal, statement of work, or written agreement for a specific job, form the agreement between you and Seked Labs for that job.
14.2. Any terms you send us, for example on a purchase order, do not apply unless we have agreed to them in writing.
15. Governing law
15.1. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
15.2. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction unless mandatory law says otherwise.
16. Contact
16.1. Questions about these terms should be sent to hello@sekedlabs.co.uk.
